About Us

Unity serves approximately 100 students in classrooms with low student-to-teacher ratios. The students are encouraged to actively participate in setting goals for their personal academic achievement while meeting the New Jersey Core Curriculum requirements. We strive to make our learning environment caring and respectful to promote academic success.

Unity’s culture encourages participation and collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and administrators in areas of decision making, program development and student growth. The school promotes the professional and personal development and well-being of its teachers as educators, individuals, and advocates for environmental sustainability.

Unity celebrates 10 years in 2008.

Founded in 1998, Unity is considered a success among New Jersey’s charter schools. Unity students consistently meet state standards for academic achievement.

As we start our second decade, Unity is pleased to continue to provide quality public school education focused on a mission that impacts all people – the future health and sustainability of our environment. Before environmental protection concerns were widely recognized, Unity Charter School was part of a small movement in the education sector to spearhead a curriculum to instill strong social and environmental values, a sense of personal responsibility, and “love of learning” to meet the needs of the whole child and provide life-long skills.
